Alida Wester						[Photo]

Alida Wester, 97, a native of Heerhugowaard, The Netherlands, and resident of 
Heritage Manor in Houma, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Gregory Barbarigo 
Catholic Church in Houma. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with 
burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cornelius Wester; her mother, Alida de 
Lange; six brothers, Dirk Wester, Msgr. Joseph Wester, Jan Wester, Piet Wester, 
Frans Wester and Cor Wester; and six sisters, Sister Agneta Wester, Sister 
Josephino Wester, Marie Rood Wester, Christina Wester, Nellie de Moel Wester and 
Sister Cornelien Wester.

She came to America in 1927 and was Msgr. Wester's housekeeper for 39 years. She 
became an American citizen in 1937. She was an active member of the Catholic 
Daughters of America, the Legion of Mary and the Anawim.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
