Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Howard 3rd Zion Travelers Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Mechanicville Emmanuel Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Bonvillain Nixon; five sons, Chester Nixon Jr., Darnell Nixon, Clark Nixon and wife, Loretta, Cassius Nixon Sr. and wife, Shawana, and Leroy Nixon of Raceland; two daughters, Penny N. Stewart and husband, Lester, and Ann M. Bingham; 20 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Elizabeth Nixon Sr.; seven sisters, Gertrude N. Johnson, Rosadell N. Johnson, Octavia N. Bennett, Louise N. Williams, Elizabeth N. Pitre, Beatrice N. Williams and Modries Sharlehorne; and four brothers, Wesley Nixon Sr., Isaac Nixon, Northern Nixon and Levi Nixon. He was a self-employed cement contractor and a lifetime member of the NAACP. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
