Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Patrick Rochel and wife, Dale, of Baton Rouge and Tim Rochel and wife, Joana Faye Sonier Rochel of Gibson; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pear Carlos Rochel; his parents, Ivy Rochel Sr. and Fannie Annie Canning Rochel; one son, Michael J. Rochel; five brothers, James, Stuart, Ivy Jr., Bernard "Bern" Sr. and Joseph Rochel; three sisters, Williamena "Mena" R. Howard, Ione R. Barnett and Margaret R. Norton; and two half-sisters, Edna McCloud and Ruth R. Chatham. He was a retired superintendent with Great Lakes. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp during the depression, was an usher at St. Patrick Catholic Church, built Higgins Landing Craft during World War II and coached numerous teams with Terrebonne Recreation Department.
