Smith, 77, a native of Cut Off and resident of Galliano, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Hebert Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise P. Smith; two sons, Gary Smith and Robbie Smith and wife, Sheila; one daughter, Dinah S. Allemand and husband, Randy; two brothers, Weston and Russell Smith; six sisters, Thelma Galjour, Dolores Curole, Alma Adams, Amelia Rebstock, Janet Triche and Rosita Triche; four grandchildren, Lance and Sadie Allemand and Alanna and Kendall Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Hilary Allemand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preslich and Lionelle Duet Smith. He was a commercial fisherman and a member of the V.F.W. Gros Guidry Post and American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
