The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= January 07. 2005 12:00AM Jeannette Apperson Jeannette "Jenny" Dupre Apperson, 59, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Gonzales, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, after a four-year battle with cancer. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales. She is survived by her husband, Henry "Buddy" Apperson; two sons, John Daniel and Brian Apperson; one daughter, Megan Apperson Percy; one grandchild, William Conner Percy; her mother, Jeannette Dupre; two brothers, Alvin Jr. and John Dupre; one sister, Agnes Dupre; one son-in-law, Adam Percy; and one sister-in- law, Ramona Dupre. She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Dupre. She attended Louisiana State University and graduated from Nicholls State University with a bachelor of arts in English. She earned a master's degree in English at Mississippi State University. She was an English professor at Mary Holmes Junior College in Mississippi, then became a homemaker. It was her wish that the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans use her body to study the rare form of cancer, adenoid cystic carcinoma, which took her prematurely from her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gonzales branch of the Ascension Parish Public Library, 708 S. Burma Blvd., Gonzales, LA 70737, to benefit the Louisiana Summer Film Festival project at LSU English Department, which she helped inaugurate.
