Joe Lewis							[Photo]

Joe "Senator" Lewis, 76, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, 
died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Community Funeral Home and 
from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at New Zion Baptist Church. Services will be 
held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by three sons, Joe Lewis III, Timothy (Harriet) Lewis, and 
Frankie Lewis Sr. of Houma; three daughters, Monica Lewis, Christina Lewis and 
Harriet (Milton) Williams of Houma; 12 grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luverdia Maryland Lewis; his parents, Ida 
Lewis and Joe Lewis Sr.; one daughter, Veronica Lewis; one brother, Albert 
Dixon; one sister, Evelyn Lewis Lyons; and one daughter-in-law Angelette Smith 
Lewis.

He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was disabled.
