Poindexter, 90, a native and resident of Gibson, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Albert Poindexter; four daughters, Marguerite Burrell and husband, Lionel, of Baton Rouge, Ethel Maude Sims and husband, Sterling, of Chauvin, Audrey Barrow and husband, William, of Gibson and Aldrenia Wesley of Gray; four sons, Lawrence Poindexter and wife, Gladys, of Clearwater, Fla., Melvin Poindexter and wife, Ruby, of Gibson, Larry Poindexter and wife, Doris, of LaPlace and Calvin Poindexter and wife, Patricia Ann, of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Bertha R. Brown; nine grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jordan Rollins and Louisa Bolden Rollins; six sisters; three brothers; one grandchild, Dexter Barrow; and one son-in-law, Leonard R. Wesley Sr. She was a member of New Vision Family Worship Center of Houma.
