Garner, 84, a native of Jayess, Miss., and resident of Gibson, died at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home and from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Gibson. Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by three sons, Willie and wife, Etta Dean, of Gibson, Reginald and wife, Ora Lee, of Morgan City and Lucious LaGrange and wife, Shirley, of Texas; four daughters, Antoinette Seymore, Cynthia Allen, Shelia Garner of Gibson and Doris Harrell of Houma; four brothers; two sisters; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlean Otis Garner; his parents, the Rev. Henry and Ella Garner; four sisters; two brothers; and one son-in-law. He was retired from T.P.S.D. and was a member of the Fifth District of the Layman Association. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and served as a deacon.
