Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Veteran service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Halfway Cemetery. He is survived by four sons, Elmer J. Brunet Jr. and wife, Sheila, John Paul Brunet and wife, Marilyn, Derrell J. Brunet and wife, Josie, of Houma and Steven A. Brunet and wife, Maggie, of Chauvin; two daughters, Linda M. Brunet of B. Houma and Marlene B. Verdin and husband, Lawrence, of Dulac; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Marie LeBoeuf Brunet; his parents, Albert Andre Brunet and Lillie Marcel Brunet; one son, Kenneth P. Brunet; one grandson, Felton Brunet; four brothers, Norris, Henry, Albert and Russell Brunet; and five sisters, Marie B. Prest, Alice B. Dolese, Justilia B. Dupre, Mazel B. Dupre and Delores B. Marcel. He was a retired bridge tender foreman for the Louisiana State Department of Transportation and a farmer. He was a former volunteer fireman at Bayou Cane Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
