Cheramie, 74, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Galliano, died at 11:16 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mirabell Chouest Cheramie; two sons, John and Farrel Cheramie; three daughters, Roxanne Cheramie, Jessica Kirkley and Stephanie Collins; two brothers, Charlie and Albert Cheramie; one sister, Ismay Theriot; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Collins Cheramie; his parents, Roudolph and Augusta Gaspard Cheramie; three brothers, Leonard, Alex and George Cheramie; and six sisters, Sedonia Boudreaux, Leonise Cheramie, Rosa Doucet, Leonore Mozley, Rosalie Boudreaux and Irene Raymond. He was a Marine staff sergeant of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
