Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. James Methodist Church in New Orleans, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Thompson; five daughters, Donna Davis, Kim Cager, Judy Thompson, Elvina Sims and Jonella Thompson, all of New Orleans; four brothers, James Thompson, Charles Thompson and Richard Thompson, all of Houma and Lewis Thompson of Atlanta; three sisters, Deloris Brown, Rosemary Brown and Cora Johnson, all of Houma; 31 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Thompson Jr.; his parents, John Thompson and Bernice Thompson; two sisters, Alberta Thompson and Shirley Haley; and his grandparents, Alberta Rosie Thompson, Joe Thompson, Kitty Sneeze and Eddie Sneeze. He worked for Stewert Enterprise for 15 years, was a forklift operator and an employee of Kenilworth Apartments for five years. He was a member of the Body of Christ Temple Ministry.
