Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Lucy's Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. She is survived by three sons, Lloyd A. Morgan and wife, Dianne, of New Orleans, Gerard Morgan, Esq. and wife, Kim, of Baton Rouge, and Michael Karl Morgan and wife, Marcia, of Virginia; four daughters, Veronica Morgan Lee, Ph.D., and husband, George, of Pittsburgh, Bernadette Morgan Travis, Angela Morgan Robinson and husband, Naaman, and Agnes Morgan, all of Houma; 20 grandchildren; 19 great- great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd P. Morgan; her parents, the Rev. Thomas Jefferson Welton Sr. and Willie Ann Williams Welton; one son, Gerard Michael Morgan; two sisters, Ruth Welton Thibodaux and Myrtle Welton Broussard; four brothers, Eugene Welton, Thomas Jefferson Welton Jr., Cleveland Welton and David Welton; and her beloved niece, Rose Mary Brown. She attended St. Luke's Catholic grade school and Holy Rosary Academy, a high school for girls operated by the Sisters of the Holy Family in Lafayette. She taught school on Johnson Ridge and was a skillful seamstress and cook. She worked for many years as the head cook at St. Lucy's Day Care Center. She was an active member of St. Lucy's Parish and was involved with various ministries. She received many awards for her dedication and service to Catholic schools and the Catholic Church. Her awards included the Papal award, the highest accommodation given to a layperson in the Catholic Church and honors from the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, St. Lucy's Parish and Vandebilt Catholic High School. She was an original member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court No. 338. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Lucy's Youth Ministry Program. Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
