Rita Matherne

Rita Mary Matherne, 82, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died at 10:47 
a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Gertrude 
Catholic Church in Des Allemands. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the 
church, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Don G. Matherne Sr. and Derace J. Matherne; seven 
daughters, Janice Matherne, Fay Granier, Peggy Frickey, Rose Frickey, Maude D. 
Carlo, Catherine Breaux and Trudy Granier; three brothers, Merlin Schaubhut, 
Arthur Schaubhut and John Schaubhut; one sister, Lillian Dufrene; 23 
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardon T. Matherne; her parents, Arthur 
and Rose Christen Schaubhut; one brother, Etwyn Schaubhut; one sister, Vivian 
Rogers; and one grandchild.

She was a member of St. Gertrude Ladies Altar Society and a parishioner of St. 
Gertrude Catholic Church.
