Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Pointe-aux-Chenes Fire Station. Religious service will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Live Oak Baptist Church, with burial in St. Ann Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Walterine Hotard Verdin of Pointe-aux-Chenes; five sons, Jerome Verdin and Verna of Perkington, Miss., Rodney Verdin and Mary of Houma, Robert Verdin and Jennifer of Wiggins, Miss., Kenneth Verdin and Josephine Landry of Bayou Blue and Leon Verdin and Amy of Mobile, Ala.; two daughters, Nancy Duplantis and Kevin, and Connie Verdin and Irby Naquin, all of Houma; four brothers, Andrew Verdin of Golden Meadow, Widles "Wallace" Verdin of Bourg, Ebro Verdin and Cleveland Verdin of Montegut; six sisters, Pearl Ledet of Bayou Blue, Dolia Kenan of St. Rose, Arlene Naquin, Esther Billiot, Shirley Verdin of Montegut and Bridget Chappel of Murphy, N.C.; and 20 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Desire' Verdin and Antoinette Dardar Verdin; one brother, Dave Verdin; and one sister, Clara Billiot. He was a commercial fisherman and a member of Live Oak Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
