Toups, 101, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Raceland, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. He is survived by one son, Franklin D. Toups of Elizabeth, Colo.; one daughter, Emily Toups D'Arcangelo of Raceland; two brothers, Carl Toups of Boutte and Donald Toups of Thibodaux; two sisters, Evelyn Toups Comeaux of Opelousas and Lucille Toups Rhodes of Houma; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris F. Guidroz Toups; his parents, Sylvester and Emilie Thibodaux Toups; two brothers, Lynn Toups and Blaise Toups, S.C.; and two sisters, Lean Toups Rau and Yvonne Toups Uzee. He was a major in the U.S. Army, a member of American Legion Post No. 349, Raceland Lions Club, Raceland Fire Department, Lafourche Parish Bar Association and Happy Mixers League of Houma. He also served on the board of directors for the Raceland Bank, Lafourche National Bank and Ariel Co. Inc.
