Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel. He is survived by his wife, Mary Dickinson Blum of Houma; two sons, Joseph Blum Jr. and wife, Priscilla, and Daniel Blum of Houma; one brother, Louis Blum of Houma; two sisters, Bessie B. Antis and Sarah B. Babin of Houma; one brother-in- law, Michael Williams Dickinson and wife, Debbie, of Highlands, Texas; nine grandchildren, Joseph Leopold Blum, Monica B. Odom, Rebecca Lynn Blum, Jonathan Edwin Blum, Helena Marie Blum, Samuel Paul Blum, Christina Michelle Blum, Joshua William Blum and Scott William Blum; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold Blum and Amalia Lewald Blum. He was a retired estimator for B & R Mechanic Contractor and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was staff sergeant and forward observer in 775th Field Artillery Unit attached to the 3rd armored division. He assisted his father in organizing Blum & Bergeron Realty Corp. and was the corporation secretary. In addition, he helped form Blum & Bergeron Inc. and was a member of the board of directors. He was a former member of the Terreanians Carnival Club, The Town Knights and The Stinkers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Terrebonne Parish Public Library, any Terrebonne museum or the charity of your choice. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
