Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Gabrielle Cooper Bethancourt of Houma; two sons, Richard J. "Jr." Bethancourt Jr. and wife, Annie, and Norris "Jim" Bethancourt and wife, Peggy, of Houma; one daughter, Carolyn Bethancourt Kyle and husband, Bill, of Houma; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Easton Bethancourt and Lorentine Porche Bethancourt; and one brother, Sidney Joseph Bethancourt. He was a retired gas lift specialist with Texaco Oil Company for 33 years and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post No. 3700, a member of the American Legion and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and an U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
