Matherne, 88, a native of Chackbay and resident of Mathews, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005. Visitation will be from noon to funeral time today at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland. Mass will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with burial in Resurrection Memorial Park. She is survived by three sons, Roland, Lester and Buddy Matherne; three daughters, Una Adams, Gloria Melancon and Flo Matherne; one brother, Vellier Landry; three sisters, Leona Bergeron, Una Ledet and Doris Sanchez; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clemille "Joe" Matherne; her parents, Felecien and Ernesia R. Landry; one daughter, Dolores Matherne; three brothers, Ernest, Eugene and Moise Landry; and four sisters, Noby Levron, Mildred Blanche Keller, Bernice Aucoin and Elise Cheramie. She was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.
