William "Bill" Hoffman Blanchard, 70, a native of Houma and resident of Gueydan, died Friday, April 15, 2005. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today at Matthews and Son Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at First Baptist Church in Gueydan. Religious service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. A Memorial service will be at First Baptist Church of Houma at a later date. He is survived by his wife, Julian "Judy" O. Blanchard of Gueydan; one daughter, Mollie Blanchard of Houma; two sisters, Joann Rodrigue of Kinder, Betty Opp of Houma; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lyola King Blanchard; his first wife, Sherry Blanchard; one son, Michael Blanchard; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Blanchard; two brothers Joseph and Emile Blanchard; and seven sisters, Virlie, Garnet, Grace, Rosalie, Delores, Joy and Gloria Blanchard. He was pastor at the First Baptist Church in Evangeline and other churches in south Louisiana. He served in the Army and was a national board member for MADD. In lieu of flower, donations can be made to MADD or your own church.
