McGuin, 89, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Gray, died at 3:57 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Gray. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery. She is survived by seven sons, Carl McGuin Sr. of Gray, Gilbert McGuin of Dallas, Warren McGuin Sr. and wife, Hattie, of New Orleans, Charles McGuin and wife, Mildred, of Gray, Patrick McGuin of Houma, Leo McGuin and wife, Christine, of Gray, and Stanley McGuin of Gray; one daughter, Lois Gauthier of Gray; 27 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam "Tom" McGuin; her parents, Alfred and Margaret Verriett; three brothers, Louis, Alfred Jr. and Benny Verriett; and six sisters, Lilly Smith, Henrietta Verriett, Melvina Frasier, Eola Williams, Lola Tucker and Essie Verriett. She was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
