The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= April 17. 2005 12:49AM Douglas Pitts Douglas Pitts, 70, a resident of Laurel, Miss., died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with interment in Mulberry Cemetery in Jasper County, Miss. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Carter Pitts of Laurel; one son, Douglas A. Pitts and wife, Heather, of Houma; three daughters, Nila Conn and husband, Tim, of Laurel, Darlene Pitts of Laurel and Theresa Wheat and husband, Mike, of Stringer, Miss.; five grandchildren, April and Brad Hearn, Amber Conn, Brittany Wheat and Dustin Pitts; and two sisters, Charlene and husband, Larry Evans, and Margaret Qudia Pitts of Ellisville, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Villa Pitts; one daughter, Kelly Anita Pitts; one great-granddaughter, Madison Grace Hearn; one brother, Jimmy Lamar Pitts; and one sister, Eloise Dyess. He was a retired oilfield worker, served in the U.S. Army during the Korea Conflict, Vietnam War and also in Germany. He loved is Lord and church being a member and deacon of Glade Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and woodworker. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
