Bonvillain Jr., 82, native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. with interment will be at St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Pontiff Bonvillain; one son, Dean Michael Bonvillain and wife, Beverly Ann Bonvillain, of Houma; one sister, Isabelle B. Jervais of Marrero; four grandchildren, Paula Ann Murley, Bobby Joe Murley, Kerry Marie Lepine, and Kelly Marie Jones of Houma; two great-grandchildren, Michael Angelo Flores and Kailey Marie Lepine of Houma; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Eugene Joseph Bonvillain Sr. and Adele Leonard Bonvillain; six brothers, Norris Bonvillain, Lawrence Bonvillain Sr., Francis Bonvillain, Ivy Bonvillain Sr., Hewitt Bonvillain and Murphy Bonvillain Sr.; four sisters, Irene Bonvillain, Cecile Bonvillain, Clavia B. Brunet, Effie B. Boudreaux. He was a chemist for Southdown Sugars for 35 years, fitters helper at Quality Shipyards for five years and a laborer at T.L. James & Co. until retirement. He enjoyed camping, dancing, fishing, traveling, playing bingo, monthly luncheons and field trips. He was member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Bayou Blue Seniors Club. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater, and awarded Medals of Honor and the Purple Heart. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
