The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= April 25. 2005 12:34PM Gene Mayet [Photo] Gene Thomas Mayet, 75, a native of Larose and resident of Cut Off, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose. Mass will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vivian Chabert Mayet; two sons, Tommy Gene and wife, Adea Leger Mayet and Ray Charles and wife, Julie Rebstock Mayet; and four grandchildren, Joyelle Marie, Ryan Thomas, Maggie Rae and Ross Paul Mayet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alces "Beb" Mayet and Alice Thomassie Mayet; one brother, Raymond Mayet; and one sister, Mae Alice Bruce. He was retired from Chevron Oil Company with 25 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and South Lafourche Parkinson's Association. He enjoyed gardening, watching sporting events and being with family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of South Louisiana, 6500 Main St., Houma, LA 70360. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
