Matherne, 84, a native of Gheens and resident of Larose, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005. Visitation will be from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Christian Fellowship Church in Larose. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Mennonite Cemetery in Des Allemands. He is survived by three daughters, Janet Dufrene and husband, Vincent Sr., Linda Dufrene and husband, Tarvin Sr., and Bonnie Dufrene and husband, Jackson Sr.; two brothers, Vorman and Johnny Matherne; seven grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae M. Matherne; his parents, Joseph Matherne and Mercedes Schouest; four sisters, Vivian Comardelle, Mabel Hogan, Nora Abadie and Emma Falcon; and two grandchildren, Marilyn Dufrene and Vincent Dufrene Jr.
