The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= April 21. 2005 12:00AM Pearl Allen [Photo] Pearl Newton Allen, 84, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 3:23 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home Chapel. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by one son, Matthew Shepherd Jr. of Houma; two granddaughters, Shelia Galmore and husband, Eric, of Houma, and Linda Bland and husband Stacy, of Houma; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Allen; her parents, Isaac Newton and Sophie Newton Diggs; her grandparents, Pate Hawkins and Gracie Hawkins; one brother, Nathaniel Diggs; one sister, Grace Diggs Johnson; and one granddaughter, Pamela Shepherd Swing. She was a homemaker and was a former usher at St. Luke Baptist Church. She designed flower arrangements and was also known for her Christmas Collection at Bayou Towers apartment. Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
