"Belle" Theriot, 70, a native of Berwick and resident of Terrebonne House in Houma for the past two years, died at 4:57 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Berwick, with burial in Berwick Cemetery. She is survived by her niece/goddaughter, Tammie Haydel and husband, Chris; her great-nephews, Hunter and Ian Haydel, who knew her as their "Granny"; one sister, Ovilia Greaux and husband, Walter, of Algiers; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Theriot of Morgan City and Isabelle Theriot of Denver; and several nieces and nephews from Colorado, Georgia, Ohio and Utah. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorena Theriot; her father, Ovile J. Theriot Sr.; one sister, Ramona Theriot Beadle; two brothers, Millin Theriot and Ovile "Pete" J. Theriot Jr.; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Angeron. She was a graduate of Nicholls State University with a degree in education. She was a teacher in Berwick for more than 25 years and was retired from Franklin Junior High. She was a member of the Parish Council for many years and frequently trained Eucharistic ministers. She was active at St. Stephens Parish Church in Berwick. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stephens Catholic Church. Hargrave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
