He is survived by his wife, Irma Jane Porche Picou; eleven children, Lisette Brunet, Deborah Picou, Larke Fabre, Etienne Picou, Nicole Lovitt, Monique Rozands, Jelpi Picou Jr., Emilie Pitre, James Picou, Charles Picou, and Adrienne Picou; three sons-in-law, Joe Lovitt, Ricky Rozands, and Billy Pitre; two daughters-in-law, Carrol Picou and Ilona Picou; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovelace and Laura Anne Defelice Picou; and fourteen brothers and sisters. He was a retired educator for Terrebonne Parish schools and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. At his request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terrebonne Parish Library.
