Vizier Sr., 66, a native and resident of Galliano, died at 5:04 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2005. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at the Lighthouse Worship Center in Galliano. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the center, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Gloria H. Vizier; two sons, Tommie J. Vizier Jr. and Fred Vizier; three daughters, Roseanna Vizier, Heather Vizier and Melissa Vizier; one brother, Jimmie Vizier; three sisters, Jane Rochon, Verna Callais and Rosemary V. Ledet; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odee and Leoncia C. Vizier; two sons, Aaron Paul Vizier and Nicholas Odee Vizier; two brothers, Morris "Black" Vizier and Valcor "Chico" Vizier; and two sisters, Odette Thibodeaux and Mary Gilbert. He was recipient of the U.S. Merchant Marine Seamanship Trophy and was seaman of the year in 1980 and 1982-83. He received citation of merit from Marine Section, National Safety Council, American Institute of Merchant Shipping and Ship Safety Achievement Award.
