Earl Scoby Sr., 81, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2005. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Dularge Community Baptist Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. at the church, with burial in Woodlawn Ranch cemetery. He is survived by one son, Timothy Scoby; two daughters, Early S. Branch, and husband, Edward of Houma, and Bernadette S. Matthews and husband, Darryl of Gibson; three brothers, Freddie Johnson of Houma, Clarence Scoby of New Orleans, and Calvin Tolbert of Houma; five sisters, Lillie Morgan, Rosa Dell Adams, Evelyn Johnson, Bettye Joseph and Earline Scoby; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delma Thomas Scoby; his parents, Thomas and Lula Tolbert Scoby; four sons, Tedrick, Allen, Earl Jr. and Terry Scoby; two brothers, James Johnson and Tom Scoby, Jr.; and two sisters, Maggie S. Richard and Alice S. Adams. He was an assistant pastor and parishioner of Dularge Community Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
