Legendre, 70, a resident of Thibodaux, died at 6:55 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2005. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Thibodaux. Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church with entombment at St. Mary Cemetery in Raceland. He is survived by his wife Bessie Babin Legendre; one son, John Legendre and wife, Monique; three daughters, Mary Vorenkamp and husband, Paul, Michelle Chaix and husband, Bryan, and Suzanne Aucoin and husband, Arthur; one brother, the Rev. Francis Legendre; one sister, Elaine L. Hebert; 12 grandchildren, Ashley and Caroline Vorenkamp, Brienne and Lindsey Chaix, Michael, Marissa and Bradley Aucoin and Thomas, Emily, Brandon and Abby Legendre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Yvonne Ledet Legendre and Guy S. Legendre Sr.; and his "second mother," Aunt Sue Ledet. He was employed by Monsanto Company at its Luling plant for 42 years as a manufacturing technologist for Ammonia. He was a member of the Ammonia Safety Committee of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and was recognized for his contributions and achievements on the committee by being presented the Walton/Miller award in 1993. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, where he was chairman of the Finance Council and Knights of Columbus Council 1114. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Thomas Aquinas Church are preferred. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
