Herschel Owens						[Photo]

Herschel Kareem Abdul Jabar Romel Owens, 22, a native of Thibodaux and resident 
of Baton Rouge, died Friday, June 17, 2005.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at New St. Mathews 
Missionary Baptist Church in Mathews. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. 
Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his companion, LaMekia Pierre of Baton Rouge; his mother, 
Evetta W. Owens of Thibodaux; two daughters, A'mya R'mya Owens and A'nya E'myne 
Owens, both of Baton Rouge; six brothers, Alexander M. Williams and wife, 
Anastasia, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Robert H. Williams of Houma, Andra Owens, Fredrick 
Owens and Renard Richard, all of Thibodaux and Steven Owens Jr. of Houston; one 
sister, Carrie Owens of Nashville, Tenn.; and his grandmother, Josephine Atkins 
Williams of Thibodaux.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Owens Sr.; and his grandparents, 
Henry Williams, Elvina Shanklin Owens and Henry Owens Sr.

He was Baptist.
