Visitation will be from 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home chapel. He is survived by his wife, Doris Dyess Bowman of Houma; three sons, Jim Bowman and wife, Beth, of Baton Rouge, Richard Bowman of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Bill Bowman and wife, Brenda, of Houma; two daughters, Michele Vice and husband, Phil, of Humble, Texas, and Barbara Irwin and husband, Chuck, of Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Bowman and Mable Anne Brown Bowman; one brother, Walter C. Bowman; and one sister, Anna B. Nichelson. He was a retired drilling supervisor with Amoco and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Petroleum Engineers and a member of the United Methodist Church.
