The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= June 29. 2005 12:43PM John Kyle Jr. John Edwin Kyle Jr., 87, a native of New Iberia and resident of Morgan City, died Saturday, June 25, 2005. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. A burial service will be held Saturday in New Iberia. He is survived by one sister, Barbara Kyle of New Iberia; eight nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Kyle Sr.; and two sisters, Virginia Kyle Hine and Katherine McKerral Kyle. He was a pioneer in the offshore oilfield service business and was manager of family-owned Drilling Mud Co. in Berwick. He co-founded and served as the first chairman and CEO of Tidewater Marine, which built the first oilfield supply boat. He was a Navy Officer in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
