Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Eagle Wright Baptist Church on Bayou Blue Road, with entombment in the Batiste Family Sarcophagus in Halfway Cemetery. The Rev. Irving Brown Jr. is pastor and officiant. She is survived by two sons, Charles P. Baptiste of New Orleans and Dr. Donaldo R. Batiste of Gurnee, Ill.; four daughters, Gloria B. Daggs and Barbara B. Trahan of Gray, Linda B. Simmons of Houma and Joyce Batiste of New Orleans; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law, Clarence Daggs Sr., Louis Trahan and Alvin Simmons; two daughters-in-law, Juanita R. Batiste and Leslie L. Baptiste; one sister-in-law, Dorothy R. Batiste; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by parents and stepmother, Eddie and Evelina Winslow Head and Louvenia Blackledge; her husband, Ernest Batiste Sr.; one daughter, Shirley Batiste; one son, Ernest Batiste Jr.; and three sisters, Rosa B. Pierce, Victoria Head and Mable A. Street. She was a deaconess and served as the Mother of the Church and was Baptist. Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
