Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church Cemetery in Destrehan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Baudoin Matherne; four sons, Todd Matherne and wife, Marilyn, of Houston, Craig Matherne and wife, Judy, of Luling, Vince Matherne II of Atlanta, and Brett Matherne and wife, Yvonne, of Dayton, Ohio; three daughters, Amy Simoneaux and husband, Chesley, of Luling, Susan Gaubert and husband, Guinn, of Luling and Cindy Muller and husband, Scott, of Houston; one son-in-law, Alan Meynard of Destrehan; one brother, Landry Matherne and wife, Patsy, of Des Allemands; three sisters, Clothilde Dempster and husband, Mitch, of Des Allemands, Carrie Loupe of Des Allemands and Martha Carlos and husband, Charles, of Luling; his mother-in-law, Mercedes Baudoin of Raceland; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger A. Matherne and Bertha Cortez Matherne; one daughter, Donna Matherne Meynard; and his father-in-law, Earl Baudoin Sr. He worked in the mining and petroleum industries and concluded his career with Cytec (formerly American Cyanamid) after 25 years. He was founder of the Sportsman's Cove and was a U.S. Army veteran.
