The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= July 28. 2005 1:01PM James McDonald [Photo] James Mitchell McDonald, 82, a native of Chicago, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at Presbyter-ian Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, with burial in Clearwater, Fla. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel; one daughter, Gail of Dallas; and two granddaughters, Lindsey of San Jose, Calif., and Jaime of Dallas. He was a retired executive of the General Electric Co. He was a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering. He joined the General Electric Co. with which he was affiliated for his entire professional life, rising up through its ranks to become vice president. He was an active member of the Presbyterian faith. He was an avid golfer and devotee of tennis, for which he maintained a lifelong passion. He was commissioned by the U.S. Navy for service in the American Theater for which he received the Victory Medal. He was honorable discharged in 1946 at the rank of lieutenant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Dallas Children's Advocacy Center or Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
