Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Christian Fellowship Church in Cut Off. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Verdun Gaudet Holmes; five sons, Kermit "Dale" Holmes Jr., Ernest Jr., Raymond Sr., Timothy and Eric Gaudet; three sisters, Mary K. Jarrell, Earnestine Rowell and Nedra Holmes; and 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Corbet Holmes and Lillie King Holmes; two sons, Jason and John Gaudet; two brothers, Charles and Claudell Thompson; and two sisters, Ann McElroy and Audrey Holmes.
