The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= July 27. 2005 2:12PM Marion LeBouef [Photo] Marion Thibodaux LeBouef, 78, a native of Destrehan, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness. Visitation will be from noon to 8:30 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette. Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, with interment in Peace Mausoleum at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. She is survived by four daughters, Susan L. Spurgeon and husband, Jerry, of Carencro, Carolyn L. Vegas and husband, Tino, Cindy M. LeBoeuf and Marilyn L. Tanner and husband, Chris, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Vivian Laird of Gainesville, Va., and Barbara Chauvin of Schriever; three brothers, Paul Thibodaux of Birmingham, Ala., Robert Thibodaux of Schriever and Vernon Thibodaux of Thibodaux; eight grandchildren, Ryan Sprugeon, Angie Thibodeaux, Chico Vega, Tina Menard and Alex, Dusty, Bannon and Zach Tanner; seven great- grandchildren, Lacey and Brooke Thibodeaux, Ashton and Tony Vega, Victoria and David Menard and Jaymee Spurgeon; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roland S. LeBoeuf; her parents, Robert Thibodaux and Daisy Eve Duet Thibodaux; one brother, Vincent Thibodaux; and one sister, Edith Austin. She had a true love for sewing and used her talents to sew for the Mount Carmel sisters for many years. She also sewed for the priests at the Cathedral and helped to make drapes for the Mount Carmel gym and the Christian Brother's kitchen. She also spent many hours volunteering her time and talents to Mount Carmel and Cathedral-Carmel when her four daughters were in school. She was a member of the International Good Neighbor's Council, a board member of Community Concerts and Chorale Acadienne. She gave countless volunteer hours to the organization, Chorale Acadienne, which she loved so much. She was a member of the Ladies' Altar Society at the Cathedral, the Lay Carmelites, the Catholic Daughters and Family Life Ministry and also donated time at the Cathedral Gift Shop. She was also a member of the Sierra Club and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always gave of herself. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Marion's love for the Cathedral was evidenced by her generous donations of four bronze bells given in memory of her husband, Roland. Marion and her family were also responsible for providing the means to return Bishop Jeanmard's cathedra (chair) to the Cathedral. She was known for her love of music and was responsible for enhancing the versatility of the Cathedral organ.
