The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= July 09. 2005 8:56PM (NOTE: This file is listed as 10 Jul 2005 on WWW) Ray Parr Ray Joseph Parr, 86, a native of Houma and resident of Shreveport, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Arcadia. He is survived by his wife, Mary Neil Durrett Parr of Shreveport; his nephew, Dr. Robert Davis and wife, Dana, and their children, Robin and Hunter, all of Houma; his brother-in-law, William J. Davis of Houma; his nieces, Virginia Israel and husband, Phil, of Shreveport and Martha Bradley and husband, Buz, of Ruston; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Parr and Julia Duplantis Parr; and one sister, Pauline Parr Davis. He was an accountant with United Gas/Pennzoil, retiring after 30 years of service. He worked for the Louisiana Highway Department, the War Manpower Commission in Houma and the U.S. Engineers in Trinidad prior to his employment with United Gas. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees. He enjoyed reading, gardening and was an avid fan of Louisiana State University sports. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Louisiana State University Alumni Association and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
