The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= Sunday August 28, 2005 Henry Simmons Sr. Henry Simmons Sr., 60, a native of Montegut and resident of Houma, died at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Community Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Luke Baptist Church on Bayou Dularge Road. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Audrey N. Howard Simmons; three daughters, Tike C. Simmons, Tanya M. Simmons and Ashante Simmons, all of Houma; three brothers, Benjamin Simmons Sr., of Montegut, Daniel Simmons and wife Gertrude, and Rodney Simmons of Gray; and four sisters, Dorothy Ross and husband, Allen of Gray, Gloria S. Van Buren, Dianne Simmons and Helena S. Allen of Montegut. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Simmons Sr. and Helena Taylor Simmons; one son, Henry Simmons, Jr.; one daughter, Tranekia L. Simmons; two brothers, Albert Simmons Sr. and Danny Simmons; and two sisters, RosaDell S. Fry and Mary S. Van Buren. He was Baptist and served as a deacon at St. Luke Baptist Church and was a U. S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. He was employed by Quality Shipyard.
