Lytal III, 63, a resident of Lockport, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Lindy Boggs Medical Center in New Orleans. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Mass will be at noon Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Debra Tesson Powell; one son, James Lytal IV; two daughters, Gerilyn Lytal Roth and Debra Lytal; one brother, Patrick Lytal; and three grandchildren, Regan, Ashley and Andre Roth. He was the founder and president of Lytal Enterprises Inc., Lytal Marine Services, L.L.C., and a number of other companies involved in the offshore marine industry, real-estate development and the automotive industry. All of his companies were headquartered in Lockport. He and his family moved to Lockport at an early age. He received his early training in the marine industry from Donald Bollinger Sr., whom he regarded as a mentor and close friend. He was an avid fisherman and in earlier years also loved to hunt. He was involved in a number of civic and patriotic projects to include the Rotary Club of Lockport and was a initial contributor to the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans. He was a former member of the State of Louisiana Commerce and Industry Committee. He was a graduate of Lockport High School and attended Louisiana State University. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans and the American Cancer Society. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
