Joyce Abernathy

Joyce Lirette Abernathy, 84, a native of Montegut and resident of Slidell, died 
Friday, Aug. 5, 2005.

Funeral services were held Monday in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in 
Covington, with burial in Mandeville Cemetery.

She is survived by two stepchildren, Evangeline Lambert and Carolyn Carter; one 
brother, Wilbert "Bill" Lirette; five grandchildren, Barbara L. DeGruy, 
Katherine L. Womac, Robert Lambert Jr., Karen Schnadelbach and Marie Thompson; 
eight great-grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews, Patti Rai Chauvin, Harry 
Dugas, Paulette Lundy, Wayne Lirette, Judy Lirette, Cynthia Cunningham, Danny 
Lirette, Jerry Lara, Elizabeth Ducker, Gary Lirette, Susan Maffia, Jackie 
Lirette and Mike Lirette; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Wilson Abernathy; her parents, 
Emile and Angelice LeCompte Lirette; four siblings, Audrey "Sam", Melvin 
Lirette, Verna Lirette and Ouida L. Breaux; one nephew; two grand-nephews; and 
two great-grandchildren.

E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
