Pitre, 79, a native and resident of Galliano, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Herbert Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Vilma F. Pitre; one son, Michael "T-Black" Pitre; one daughter, Nadine Pitre; three brothers, Leo "Blackie" Pitre, Claude Pitre and Ecland Pitre Jr.; two sisters, Rita P. Blanchard and Irene P. St. Pierre; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ecland and Florida Angelette Pitre; one brother, Harris Pitre; and four sisters, Lelia Pitre, Norma P. Gisclair, Velma "Sweet" Pitre and Inez P. Richoux. He was retired and was a member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV. He was a WWII veteran and received the Purple Heart. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
