Toups, 86, a native of Galliano and resident of Cut Off, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005. Visitation will be from 1 to 10 p.m. today at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano and from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with interment in the church mausoleum. He is survived by one son, Larry Paul Toups and wife, Dina; two daughters, Barbara T. Falgout and Beverly T. Sonnamaker and husband, Charles; three sisters, Rose Pierce, Earline Pitre and Wilavia Chiasson; eight grandchildren, Denise Matthews, L. Paul Toups, Jennifer Shelton, Kevin Toups, Dena Fernell, Lance Toups, Reed Fanguy and Kelli McNamara; and eight great-grandchildren, Gavin Toups, Rory Fernell, Kelsey Fernell, Darcey Fernell, Denae Matthews, Melyssa Matthews, Maygan Steele and Cole Steele. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Bouzigard Toups; his parents, Remie Sr. and Angelina Gisclair Toups; one son, Leonise J. Toups Jr.; five brothers, Remie Jr., Lodess J., Loris, David and Noless Toups; three sisters, Leona Anselmi, Noiscia Duet and Elescia Bouffanie; and one son-in-law, Dennis George J. Falgout. He was a retired commercial shrimper, fur trapper and horticulturist raising fruits and vegetables. He was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the Holy Name Society and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
