Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Dodge Cotton of Ferriday; two sons, Melvin Stutes of Monterey and Ronnie Stutes of Tennessee; one daughter, Melba Tate of Ferriday; two sisters, Rita Landry of Marrero and Gloria Chaisson of Houma; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Cotton and Hattie Lirette Cotton; two brothers, Norris Cotton and Horace Cotton; and one sister, Georginia Cotton. He was a self-employed seafood wholesaler and a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
