Arcement, 87, a native of Raceland and longtime resident of Houma, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Richard A. "Dickie" Arcement and Floyd F. "Buster" and wife, Julie, of Houma; five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Janice) Hebert and Mrs. Lionel J. (Elaine) Grabert, both of Houma, Mrs. Ralph (Martha) Longman of Franklin, Mrs. David (Mary) Plaisance of Raceland and Mrs. Freeman (Nancy) Collins of Bourg; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Alice) Arceneaux and Mrs. Clifford (Doris) Lagarde of Raceland and Mrs. Floyd (Barbara) Troxler of Bridge City; one brother, Francis Arcement and wife, Florence, of Raceland; 16 grandchildren, Grant E. Hebert of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Walt (Kim) Applewhite and Ryan Hebert of Houma, Robyn M. Grabert of Houma, Mrs. David (Marie) Cole of Jeanerette, Mrs. Ryan (Catherine) Viator of Houma, Elizabeth and Anne Longman of Franklin, Christie Plaisance of New Orleans, Carrie, Leslie and Lindie Plaisance of Raceland, Andrew and Phillip Arcement of Houma, and Eric and Mark Collins of Bourg; and nine great-grandchildren, Blake and Dylan Pepper and Whitney Applewhite of Houma, Amelia and Sadie Viator of Houma, Christine and Chandler Cole of Jeanerette, Devin Cantu and Hilary Plaisance of Raceland. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eulah Walker Arcement; his parents, Armand and Adeline Arcement; and three brothers, Armand, Ashton and Earl Arcement. He was retired from Texaco and served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a medic. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and was awarded the Bishop's Medal at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. His hobby was vegetable gardening. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting Masses and/or donations to School Sisters of Notre Dame, c/o St. Mary of the Pines, Chatawa, MS 39632. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
