July 30. 2005 11:41PM Man found fatally shot in Dularge By TOM BONNETTE The Courier HOUMA -- A 44-year-old man was found fatally shot on a road in Dularge early Saturday morning. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call at 5:23 a.m. to find a man's body lying in the 200 block of Crozier Road, according to a news release. The man was later identified as Richard Burton, 427 Bayou Dularge Road, authorities said. Sheriff Department officials said they aren't sure who made the call or who first found the body on the street, but they are seeking information from the public. "No one has come forward at this time as a witness. We have been talking to residents, but we haven't been able to develop a lot at this time," said Sheriff's Department spokesman Capt. Malcolm Wolfe. Burton's body was found about a mile from his home, according to Sheriff's Department officials. Authorities said they believe Burton was only shot once, but they said it was too early in the investigation to release much more information about the shooting. Since no vehicle was found at the scene, authorities assume that Burton was either walking or had been dropped off my another vehicle. "He was close to where he lived, so this didn't happen in an area he wasn't familiar with," Wolfe said. Detectives responded to the location and questioned residents about the murder after deputies found the body. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the murder to call the detective's bureau at 876-2500.
