The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= August 02. 2005 12:52PM Walter Bridges Sr. Walter Samuel "Sam" Bridges Sr., 80, a native of Pleasant Hill, a former resident of Houma and resident of Saraland, Ala., died at 6:34 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Forrest Lawn Baptist Church in Saraland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Forrest Lawn Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Doris Dark Bridges of Saraland; four sons, Walter Bridges Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Crestview, Fla., James Bridges and wife, Nancy, of Bourg, Russell Bridges and wife, Doris, of Mobile, Ala., and Greg Bridges of Satsuma, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Herbert and Hattie Lacey Bridges; four brothers, Tommy, Johnny, Dale and Jack Bridges; and one sister, Carmen Bridges Jackson. He was a retired drilling superintendent for Union Oil of California and was a member of Forrest Lawn Baptist Church.
