Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Community Funeral Home, with burial in Union Benevolent Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Welton Beattie of San Francisco; five daughters, Helen Beattie Vanburen, Hazel Beattie Thomas and Elsie Beattie Johnson, all of New Orleans, and Ceola and Marion Beattie Hall of San Francisco; one brother, Melvin Pete; one sister, Irene Pete Smith; 30 grandchildren; and numerous great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dugas; her parents, Alex Pete and Laura Ballette Pete; two sons, Junius and John Beattie; five brothers, Alex Jr., Melvin, Charles, Willie and Lee Pete; and three sisters, Maude P. Brooks, Gladys Pete and Octavia P. Steward. She was a homemaker and served as a deaconess for many years. She enjoyed joking, laughing and talking to make others happy. She was a member of Greater Bright Morning Star Baptist Church in New Orleans. Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
