James Matthews Jr.					[Photo]

James Matthews Jr., 89, a native of Schriever and resident of Long Beach, 
Calif., died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005.

Funeral services were held today at Christ 2nd Baptist Church in California, 
with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.

He is survived by his wife, Louiza; four sons, Carlton Sr., James III, Larry and 
Donald, all of California; one daughter, Fariveora of California; two sisters, 
Francis Nevis and Victoria Brown; and one brother, Thomas Matthews Sr. and wife, 
Emma Bea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Hattie Winslow; two 
brothers, Junius "Sonny" and Earl Matthews Sr.; and three sisters, Ida Scott, 
Daisy Matthews and Hattie Lewis.

He was Baptist.
